France to ban oil and gas production by 2040

Baku, September 8, AZERTAC

France government is planning to ban oil and gas production by 2040.

France government is unveiling a law to ban all production and exploration of oil and natural gas by 2040 on the country's mainland and overseas territories.

French President Emmanuel Macron intends to clean up carbon in the country by 2050. According to the bill presented in a Cabinet meeting, France will not give the companies new drilling permits for production and exploration of oil and natural gas.

Current drilling permits will be banned by 2040, by limiting them gradually.

France also wants to prohibit the sales of transport using oil and diesel fuel by 2040.
