Baku, August 9, AZERTAC
French newspaper “Le Monde” has published an interview with Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on special assignments Elchin Amirbayov.
Responding to the questions of journalist Emmanuel Grynzspan on the situation in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, including to Lachin road, Elchin Amirbayov described the claims regarding the alleged blockade of the Lachin road published in the Western media as groundless.
Amirbayov emphasized that in accordance with the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, the Lachin road must be used for humanitarian purposes. “However, over the past two and a half year period, Armenia have used the road for illegal purposes, transporting the troops as well as weapons and ammunition to Azerbaijani territories,” he underlined.
He also said that the Armenian side did not accept Azerbaijan’s proposal to transport medical supplies and humanitarian cargo passing through the Lachin road through Azerbaijan’s Aghdam and Fuzuli districts.
The representative of the Azerbaijani President also highlighted the evidences regarding the detention of Vagif Khachaturyan, who committed the war crimes against Azerbaijanis during the First Karabakh War.
