I send warm greetings to the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the 21st anniversary of the International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference in Baku.

Azerbaijan plays an essential part in contributing to the global supply of energy and, over the next few years, will become a major supplier of gas to Europe. Making the Southern Gas Corridor a reality will require hard work and close cooperation between Azerbaijan and its international partners. The United States sees the completion of this project as an important step toward expanding Europe's gas supplies and stands ready to assist.

Your country's role as an energy supplier will enable the development of a diversified economy, strengthen the rule of law, and raise the living standards of the Azerbaijani people. The United States values continued collaboration toward these goals.
