GHANA BEATS USA 2-1

Baku, June 27 (AZERTAC). With the United States and Ghana tied at 1-1, Ghana`s Asamoah Gyan scored a goal to secure a 2-1 win in overtime.

A penalty kick by American Landon Donovan tied the U.S. with Ghana, 1-1, in the second half of their second-round World Cup match.

Donovan scored from the penalty spot, sidefooting the ball into the net in the 62nd minute after Clint Dempsey was fouled in the penalty area by Jonathan Mensah.

An early goal by Kevin-Prince Boateng gave Ghana a 1-0 lead over the United States.

A turnover in the midfield was picked up by Boateng, who surged through unchallenged from the halfway line, where Ricardo Clark lost possession, before firing a low shot to U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard`s right and into the back of the net at the five-minute mark.
