ICT Minister meets new head of Huawei Azerbaijan Office
Baku, August 19 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov has met Liu Jianwei, the incoming head of the Azerbaijan Office of Huawei, the leading global ICT solutions provider.
Abbasov highlighted Azerbaijan’s economic achievements, including the reforms and projects that had been implemented in the sphere of information technologies.
Speaking about development prospects, the Minister noted that the rate of development of the ICT sphere in the Republic had been increasing year by year. Abbasov also informed Liu Jianwei about local and regional projects implemented in Azerbaijan, including the Trans-Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) and Eurasian Connectivity Alliance (EurACA) projects and the National Broadband Internet Development project, which envisages provision of high - speed internet and other modern telecommunication services to all residential areas of the country via an optical fibre cable network. He said that in the future, Huawei would also be able to participate in suchlike projects.
In his turn, Liu Jianwei briefed the ICT Minister on the activity directions of the company. He said that Huawei was interested in continuing cooperation with Azerbaijan in the spheres of mobile communications, internet, information and communication technologies.
They also discussed issues of mutual concern and prospects for the cooperation.
