INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FIGHT AGAINST COUNTERFEIT DRUGS LAUNCHED IN BAKU
Ministers of Azerbaijan, Heydar Babayev of the Economic Development, Ramil Usubov of the Interior Affairs, Ogtay Shiraliyev of the Health, head of the State Frontier Service Elchin Guliyev and other officials attended the event.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee, lieutenant-general Aydin Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the World Customs Organization (WCO) for conducting the conference in Baku.
Committee Chairman highlighted that since the beginning of 1999, WCO holds several events in Azerbaijan, organizes various international conferences and regional seminars on the intellectual property ( IP ).
Head of the department for work with the law enforcement bodies of Presidential Administration Fuad Alasgarov read out the message of Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to the conference participants.
Ali Hasanov, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for refugees and IDPs, in his speech, noted that Azerbaijan owns up-to-date technology and highly skilled personnel in health area. Despite the imported drugs are under the government`s supervision, the cases of counterfeit medicines also take place in Azerbaijan, as throughout the world. The states have to join efforts to fight against counterfeit drugs.
WCO Secretary General Michel Danet, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khurshid Anwar, members of the World Health Organization (WHO) and others highly valued the Azerbaijan government`s initiative to hold such event in Baku.
