INT`L MUSIC WEEK HIGHLIGHTS SEVERAL EVENTS IN BAKU
Baku, September 11 (AZERTAC). Baku will host an International Music Week supported by the ministry of culture and tourism from September 17 through 25.
A manifold program of this year’s festival features lots of events and celebrations, two of which will be dedicated to the memory of outstanding Azerbaijani composer Niyazi and Zulfugar Hajibayov on 17 September. Also the same day M. Magomayev Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall plays host to a concert led by Spanish conductor Enrique Batiz.
A series of events devoted to great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli are slated for September 18, the composer`s birthday, in Baku and Azerbaijan provinces. As usual, participants will commemorate Uzeyir Hajibeyli and other Azerbaijani musicians visiting Alley of Honors in Baku. Another highlight is an open-air concert in the grounds at the foot of Uzeyir Hajibeyli Baku Music Academy. The same day features presentation of “Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Bibliography” book at the Azerbaijan National Library and TURKSOY supported staging of Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s “Koroglu” opera with Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater.
On September 18 and 19 the Azerbaijan State Theater of Musical Comedy will present Hajibeyli’s “Arshin Mal Alan” operetta while exhibition titled “Musical characters in Azerbaijan fine art” will be held in Art Salon.
Also the International Music Week envisages performance of “Ashug Garib” opera, celebration of 85th jubilee of tar player Ahsan Dadashov and tribute to Mir Mohsum Navvab, famous musician and artist of Azerbaijan.
The Music Week will wrap up with a concert led by the world’s greatest violinist Maxim Vengerov in capital`s Philharmonic Hall.
