Invitations to Vilnius Summit handed out to heads of Eastern Partnership countries
Vilnius, October 16 (AZERTAC). Lithuanian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrius Krivas has handed out invitations to heads of diplomatic missions of the six Eastern Partnership countries - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Armenia and Ukraine - for their countries to attend the third Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on 28-29 November, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.
The letters of invitation were signed by the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite, the European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, and Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. The six eastern partner countries are invited to attend the Vilnius Summit, which is expected to confirm significant achievements of the Eastern Partnership and to delineate its future prospects.
Krivas handed out invitations saying that in the context of the Presidency of the EU Council, Lithuania attached great importance to the Eastern Partnership. The Lithuanian Vice-Minister stressed his belief that the Vilnius Summit would be an important step towards the EU dialogue and cooperation with each Eastern Partnership country. According to the Foreign Vice-Minister, real outcomes of the Summit will help willing partner countries to continue to seek political and economic convergence with the European Union.
