IRAN WANTS AZERBAIJAN’S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY TO BE RESTORED
Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov met with the ambassador of Iran to the country Afshar Suleymani on completion of his diplomatic mission, 26 February.
Noting that the mutual visits of the Presidents of both countries play special role in development of bilateral relations, the Minister also reminded the jointly implemented projects, in particular, laying the gas-pipeline to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from Iran, construction of bridge over the Araz River in Julfa region, as well as the opening of Azerbaijan’s consulate in Tebriz, which, according to him, are noteworthy facts of good neighborhood.
Ambassador A. Suleymani said the official visit of Azerbaijan President to Iran was of great importance for both sides, as during the visit, 9 agreements were signed. He also reminded the construction of Baku-Astara highway, the accedence of Iran to TRACECA program in which Azerbaijan played important role, and other positive moments in bilateral links.
These projects and visits have strengthened friendly relations between the two countries, giving them a new impetus to cooperate intensively in the years to come. Iran, the Ambassador said, supports restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and always has upheld this position.
The Iranian diplomat also marked last year’s rise of commodity turnover by 30 percent between the two countries.
Minister Mammadyarov wished to Mr. Afshar Suleymani success in his future diplomatic activity.
