IRAN’S NATIONAL HOLIDAY MARKED IN BAKU
Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku arranged a reception at the Gulistan Palace in honor of the national holiday of Iran - the Islamic Revolution Day, 12 February.
Speaking at the reception, ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Afshar Suleymani informed on the progress his country reached in the economic and cultural fields during the past 28 years after the Revolution, thanks to which, according to him, holds a worthy place in the world community.
The diplomat pointed out that Iran and Azerbaijan are fraternal and neighbor countries, and have close bilateral relations in many fields. In 2006, the goods turnover between the two countries have raised by 30 percent in comparison with previous year, the Ambassador stressed.
First Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan Parliament Ziyafet Askerov congratulated the people of Iran on this landmark Day, extended greetings on behalf of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. “Last years, our countries have signed some 70 agreements on cooperation in the economic and cultural fields, which allow to closely cooperate in the years to come”, he emphasized.
At reception, also present was Deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova, head of the President Administration’s foreign relations department Novruz Mammadov, the ministers, and representatives of international organizations, public figures.
