Japanese government to finance construction of medical point in Azerbaijan`s Ismayilli region
The project aims to construct a new medical point in order to improve the quality of medical services for the residents of Geraybeyli village and six surrounding villages. The total amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for the project is $103,088.
The grant contract for the project was signed by Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Tsuguo Takahashi and Chairman of “Youth for Development” NGO Rafiq Ismayılov.
Speaking to the signing ceremony, head of the Ismayilli Executive Authorities Mirdamad Sadigov praised Azerbaijan-Japan relations. “Such projects make a tremendous contribution to strengthening the friendly relations between the two countries.”
Ambassador Takahashi said “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” supported projects aimed at improving the living standard in Azerbaijan.
So far including this project 13 projects have been contracted in Ismayilli region.
“Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” support projects applied by municipalities, medical institutions, and NGOs, aiming directly at the improvement of living standards of Azerbaijani people. Such projects might be implemented in the field of poverty reduction, social protection, infrastructure, public health and increase of incomes. The total number of projects contracted in Azerbaijan including this project is 185, amounting to $ 15,511,877.
The total amount of Japan’s Official Development Assistance provided for the Republic of Azerbaijan is over $1 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors, cultural field as well as human capacity development.
