Jeddah hosts UNA Media Professionalism award ceremony

The Ramadan Forum, jointly organized by the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) and the Muslim World League, was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The event gathered members of UNA news agencies and representatives of the diplomatic corps. The Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) was represented by Board member Elshan Shahbalayev.
The event underscored the importance of the media’s role in boosting unity and equality in the Islamic World, as well as the significance of the document titled “Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought.”
Addressing the event, Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, UNA Director General highlighted the media’s profound role in revealing the truth and conveying it to society, also briefing the participants on the organization’s activities on this track.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, underscored the role of the “Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought” document in cementing the values of tolerance and moderation in Islamic thought, as well as in the fight against radicalism.
The event proceeded with screening of a video highlighting the activities of UNA and presenting the UNA Media Professionalism awards.
