A ceremony to mark the fifth anniversary of establishment of the Zukkov Nature Protection Foundation and third anniversary of implementation of the “Protection and preservation of the national cultural and nature heritage of Azerbaijan – national parks program” took place in Berlin.

The ceremony was attended by Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety Jurgen Trittin Bundestag members, representatives of research centers, public organizations, universities, financial organizations and Azerbaijan embassy officers.

The congratulation letter of Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyngulu Bagirov was given to the presidium of the Zukkov Foundation.

Opening the ceremony, secretary of state Dr. Freund said that protection of ecology is the vitally important issue for the humanity and “Protection and preservation of the national cultural and nature heritage of Azerbaijan – national parks program” implemented by the Zukkov Foundation in Azerbaijan will contribute to the restoration of peace and stability in the Southern Caucasus region.

The fifth anniversary of Zukkov Foundation establishment and third anniversary of collaboration with Azerbaijan will be marked in Baku on May 30. On the eve of these events, the Azerbaijan bureau of the Foundation is scheduled to open. Professor Martin Uppenbrink is appointed as head of the bureau.

In his congratulation address, ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany Huseynaga Sadigov highly appreciated the cooperation between the Zukkov Foundation and Azerbaijan. He also reminded of the heavy losses inflicted by Armenia on the nature because of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories.
