LAST GALAGAYIN REFUGEE CAMP CLOSES IN AZERBAIJAN
The Office of Azerbaijan’s Ombudsperson and State Commission on Refugee and IDP Affairs co-organized the event on Saturday dealing with the last Galagayin refugee tent camp`s closing down in Sabirabad region, Azerbaijan. The event was attended by UN representatives.
Sabirabad governor Heydar Abbasov congratulated internally displaced persons on this occasion and expressed his best wishes to them.
According to Ombudsperson Mrs. Elmira Suleymanova, under the “State Program on Improvement of Living Conditions of Refugees and IDPS and Augment of their Employment”, 4179 IDP families were removed from tent camps in Saatly and Sabirabad regions and settled in Fuzuli, Bilasuvar, Sabirabd and Agjabedi regions with all utilities as well as medical and education services provided.
International organizations have so far implemented humanitarian projects worth $700 mln. Currently, 72 international humanitarian organizations carry out their mission in Azerbaijan.
