LATVIA SEES AZERBAIJAN AS A LEADING STATE IN REGION

Elmar Mammadyarov reminded the visits of the heads of state of both countries, stressing positive impact of these visits on development of bilateral relations.
The Minister said the positions of both countries on a number of international questions are close and even coincide. Noting that Azerbaijan`s integration to the European Union is one of the priorities of the country`s foreign policy, Mr. Mammadyarov emphasized the role of Latvia in relations with these structures.
Reminding mutual understanding and support in political sphere, the Azeri foreign Minister stressed necessity of such cooperation in the economic field, too. Then, he spoke of the Armenia-
Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, highly estimating Latvia`s support for territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Expressing satisfaction with the level of bilateral relations, Mr. Artis Pabriks said a special business forum would be held in Baku during his visit. According to him, the Forum will certainly have positive influence on the economic ties.
In meeting, the parties had comprehensive exchange of views on cooperation in other fields, including non-oil sector, in particular, in information technology, agro business, and tourism and transport infrastructure.

After the meeting, the foreign ministers held a news conference for media representatives.
Latvia`s Foreign Minister Artis Pabriks said he sees Azerbaijan as the leading state of region, expressing the interest of the Latvian investors in Azerbaijan`s economy.
