Leyla Hasanova: New startup projects discussed at the second summer camp on climate change
Baku, August 30, AZERTAC
The application of innovations in the educational process is crucial. One of the main advantages of the second summer camp on climate change is the emphasis on innovative methods in education. The goal is not only to follow a traditional curriculum but also to introduce young teachers to new approaches and technologies. Additionally, new startup projects are discussed here. These projects will provide significant support for young teachers and other participants in advancing their careers in the future, Leyla Hasanova, the Youth Climate Champion for COP29, said in an interview with AZERTAC.
“The second summer camp on climate change was held in Shamakhi this year. Last year, we organized the same camp in Baku with the participation of 75 young teachers from 35 countries. Following the success of that experience, we launched the summer camp again this year. The main significance of the summer camp lies in the fact that this program is designed for young teachers. The aim is to provide young teachers from foreign countries with valuable knowledge about the ecological challenges caused by climate change, so that they can share this knowledge with schoolchildren and university students upon returning to their home countries,” Hasanova added.
Speaking about the differences between last year’s camp and this year’s, Leyla Hasanova noted that there are no significant differences. “The curriculum and program have remained the same. Last year, 75 young teachers participated in the event held in Baku. This year, we brought together 48 young teachers. Working with smaller teams makes the learning process more effective.”
Highlighting the role of the summer camp in the context of COP29 and COP30, Hasanova said: “In the framework of preparations for COP29, last year’s camp was one of the key achievements. This year, the role of the camp is even more significant on the path to COP30. In general, COP summits are held annually, and this summer camp brings additional momentum to the process by equipping young teachers with new knowledge and experience on the road to COP30. One of the most important issues for us is to ensure more people are educated. The successes and achievements of Azerbaijan’s presidency will be passed on to the younger generation in various countries through young teachers. This is a crucial factor in the preparation process for COP30, as during COP30, heads of state and high-level officials will once again come together to discuss climate education.”
