MEETING ON DEVELOPMENT OF TOURIST INDUSTRY IN AZERBAIJAN
On April 8, Basharan Ulusoy, chairman of the Turkish Association of Travel Agencies (TURSAB) met representatives of the Azerbaijani tourism companies in the Union of Tourism Industry of Azerbaijan. Discussing the questions on Azerbaijan-Turkey cooperation in the field of tourism, Basharan Ulusoy said that his visit to Azerbaijan is linked to the conclusion of an agreement on cooperation with Azerbaijani companies having great potential for tourism and the opening of the Baku office of TURSAB. The visitor called the tourism organizations to consolidate their efforts to promote Azerbaijan in a healthy competition. B. Ulusoy said: “To say “Azerbaijan is beautiful” is not enough. You have to prove that Azerbaijan is not only the oil country. This basically depends on you, on how you turn your country into a center of attraction.”He stressed that Azerbaijan has played a great role in reorganization of the Great Silk Route, known as “road for travel”, “road for economy”. He added that Azerbaijan is an important country in the probable tourist route from Turkey to China.
The Turkish representative discussed cooperation plans for the opening of this route with the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev. Ulusoy declared his willingness to arrange trainings for Azerbaijani specialists in the field of tourism in Turkey. Representatives of companies presented their proposals for cooperation.
