MEMBERS OF AZERBAIJAN-AMERICAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE VISITS AZERBAIJAN STATE CUSTOMS COMMITTEE
Members of Azerbaijan-American Chamber of Commerce have met with the first Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan State Customs Committee, lieutenant-general of the customs service Mr. Safar Mehdiyev.
Mr. Mehdiyev told of successful reforms being implemented in the country’s customs service over the past ten years. Azerbaijan State Customs Committee expands relations with the customs organizations of the various countries, said Mehdiyev. Lieutenant-colonel underlined that last year, with the support of the EU and UNDP, new Customs Code of Azerbaijan Republic was prepared and submitted to the government in the framework of the project on improvement of the customs service in the Republic of Azerbaijan. On role of the State Customs Committee in Azerbaijan’s joining the World Trade Organization, Mr. Mehdiyev noted that some customs legislative acts were brought in correspondence with the WTO requirements and submitted to the government.
The sides shared views on other issues of mutual interest.
