Deputy Chairwoman of the Milli Majlis Bahar Muradova met Tuesday with Secretary General of the House of Representatives of the States General of the Netherlands Jacqueline Biesheuvel-Vermeijden.

Muradova said Azerbaijan is interested in development of ties with the Netherlands, which is an active member of the European Union and NATO.

She said relations between the two states are not at the desired level in spite of the existing opportunities for their development. Muradova called for important meetings and reciprocal mutual visits of the ministries and various state structures of the two countries. She said the parliaments are playing special role in development of relations among states, underlining the need for strengthening of ties between the two states` legislative bodies.

Jacqueline Biesheuvel-Vermeijden said the aim of her visit is to get familiarized with Azerbaijan and its legislative body. She praised Azerbaijan`s rapid development and highly assessed the country`s integration into Europe. She expressed assurance the visit will give its contribution to development of relations between the two states and parliaments.
