Mundo Internacional journal highlights Azerbaijan`s national day
Baku, July 6 (AZERTAC). Mexican Mundo Internacional journal has issued an article entitled “National Day of Azerbaijan”.
The article refers to the speech of Azerbaijani ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov made at an event marking the national holiday of Azerbaijan, the Republic Day.
The article highlights the establishment of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) in 1918.
It notes ADR was the first democratic republic in the Muslim East which granted the right to vote to women, adding it was also home to the first opera and university in the East.
The article says that Azerbaijan has stepped into a new path of development under national leader Heydar Aliyev since 1970.
The article touches upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying 20 percent of Azerbaijan`s lands has been kept under occupation by Armenia for more than 20 years.
The journal stresses Azerbaijan`s international importance, saying it is known as a trusted partner and friendly country in the world.
The article notes that Azerbaijan opened its Embassy in Mexico six years ago, adding the country also has its embassies in Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Uruguay and Cuba.
The article also says that the Mexican government adopted a decision to open its Embassy in Azerbaijan, adding this will contribute to expanding bilateral relations between the two countries.
