NABUCCO PIPELINE TO TRANSPORT GAS TO EUROPE IN 2013
The Nabucco head Reinhard Mitschek told the 7th Turkish Oil and Gas Conference in Ankara 19 March the pipeline would transport to Europe the first natural gas in 2013.
The first gas may be Azerbaijan`s gas, he noted.
The Nabucco pipeline, favored by both Washington and Brussels, will bring gas from a mix of suppliers from the Caspian region and from the Middle East and can serve the European market as a whole, said Jeremy Ellis, head of business development of Germany`s RWE AG.
As stated, it will bypass Russia and is at least in part intended to help ease Western Europe`s dependence on Russian supplies.
The Nabucco head Reinhard Mitschek earlier said the pipeline could transport gas from potential suppliers including Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Iran if there is enough demand.
Nabucco is a joint project among Austria`s OMV Gas International GmbH, Hungary`s MOL PLC, Romania`s Transgaz SA, Bulgaria`s Bulgargaz Holding EAD, Turkey`s Botas AS and Germany`s RWE AG.
