New Zealand keen to boost relations with Azerbaijan
Baku, December 6 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani Parliament`s Speaker Ogtay Asadov has today met Special Representative of the Prime Minister, former Premier of New Zealand Jim Bolger.
The Azerbaijani Speaker stressed the importance of reciprocal visits in terms of expanding the bilateral ties.
He noted Azerbaijan attached great importance to expanding cooperation with the world countries, as well as New Zealand.
Mr Ogtay Asadov underlined the significance of signing intergovernmental documents between the two countries for establishment of legal basis of the bilateral relations.
The Speaker of the Parliament said about USD 130 billion was invested in Azerbaijan in last 10 years. He added that today the country itself makes investments in a number of countries of Eastern Europe.
They praised opportunities for the Azerbaijan-New Zeeland cooperation in various fronts of economy, particularly agrarian sector.
The Speaker stressed the key role of the parliaments in the relations, and noted the importance of establishment of friendship groups in both countries’ legislative bodies in terms of exchange of information and experience.
They also hailed joint fruitful activities of the two countries’ delegations within international organizations.
Mr Jim Bolger noted New Zealand was interested in expanding bilateral ties with Azerbaijan.
They also exchanged views on prospects for the bilateral cooperation, as well as interparliamentary ties between Azerbaijan and New Zealand.
Head of Azerbaijani Parliament`s Administration Sefa Mirzayev and other officials were also present at the meeting.
