Nizami Ganjavi`s 870th anniversary marked in Strasburg

Baku, November 20 (AZERTAC). A series of events have been organized in Strasburg with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation to celebrate the 870th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.

An exhibition was arranged at the Rihn palace featuring archaeological findings related to the period Ganjavi lived in, including coins, samples of jewellery, household items, reproductions of miniatures drawn in medieval periods by Azerbaijani artists, pottery with miniatures and carpets and batiks made on the basis of subjects of poems of the Shirvanshahlar and Atabaylar periods of the history included in “Khamsa”.

Photos made in Ganja late in the 19th - early in the 20th centuries, a mock-up of the poet’s mausoleum in Ganja, photos of monuments erected to the poet in the cities of Baku, Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Rome, Cheboksary and Beijing, as well as the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s publications related to Nizami’s works were also put on display.

Azerbaijan State Orchestra of Folk Instruments gave a concert at the Music and Congress Palace in Strasbourg the same day.
