OKLAHOMA BUSINESSMEN INVITED TO INVEST IN AZERBAIJAN
Delivering a report on How to Build Business in Azerbaijan Fikret Pashayev provided the conference participants with detailed information about ongoing reforms and accomplishments achieved in the country.
He pointed out that the development strategy – in particular, attraction of foreign investments in oil and gas sector - implemented in Azerbaijan over the past years has led to rapid economic growth in the country.
Fikret Pashayev pointed out that whereas the 2005 GDP growth in Azerbaijan was 26,4 percent, for this year’s 10 months alone, it has made up 34 percent.
He noted that rapid development of oil and gas sector, including the start of operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, and the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, would give an impetus to development of non-oil sector of the economy.
The conference participants were also informed on favorable investment climate in Azerbaijan, in particular, issues concerning registration, tax and customs systems in the country.
With representatives of Oklahoma companies interested in doing business in Azerbaijan and experts of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, Fikret Pashayev and Taleh Ziyadov discussed ways of possible cooperation.
Local businessmen were invited to invest non-oil sector of Azerbaijan’s economy, in particular, in such spheres as machine-building, agriculture, construction, transport, communications and information technologies, tourism, healthcare and education.
