OMBUDSWOMAN OF AZERBAIJAN TAKES CARE OF COMPATRIOTS IN MOSCOW
A joint news conference of the Azerbaijan Ombudswoman Elmira Suleymanova and Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbloglu took place in Moscow.
The goal of visit of E. Suleymnaova to the Russian capital was acquaintance with position of Azerbaijanis living there in connection with acceptance of Russia’s new migratory legislation which have come into force on January 15 this year. Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan had meetings and fruitful consultations with Ombudsman of the Russian Federation Vladimir Lukin, the chief of Federal Migratory Service of Russia Konstantin Romodanovsky. Sjhe also met with the representative of Department on humanitarian cooperation and human rights of MFA of the Russian Federation Oleg Maliginov and the representative of Moscow law-enforcement body Vladimir Pronin. With participation of representatives of the Russian Ombudsman she has visited a jail where 10 Azerbaijanis were held for infringement of migratory rules.
Ms. Suleymanova has informed at the press conference, that the basic goal of her visit to the Russian capital was to familiarize with state of the compatriots in Russia, stemming from the general policy of Azerbaijan, directed on protection of the rights and interests of the citizens living in the Russian Federation. Taking into account that the new law touches upon interests of Azerbaijanis, it has been decided to study their living conditions on places, to make offers for elimination of their problems.
Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu, in turn, has noted that still very few time has passed after introduction of new migratory rules and it is early to speak about any results. At his words, the head of Federal Migratory Service of Russia Konstantin Romodanovsky during consultations has explained, that now they study how the new law works.
