Murtuz Alaskarov said: “Despite of development of the Azerbaijani-Pakistani relations, inter-parliamentary links for the present are not at a desirable level. Therefore, we should develop connections in this area.
Chairman of Milli Majlis has in detail informed the ambassador on the democratic reforms conducted in the country, the achieved successes, and the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorny Karabakh conflict. He told: “The Council of Europe and Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE in a number of the documents have recognized Armenia as a state-aggressor. We hope, that the world community, the large states will be engaged truly in the fair settlement of the problem. We trust that Pakistan will continue to support our position also.
Having expressed gratitude for warm reception, Mohammad Hafiz has told: “Cooperation between our countries in political area is at a high level. However, trade and economic relations lag behind. Pakistan supports peace settlement of the Nagorny Karabakh conflict within the framework of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Official Islamabad supports the position of Azerbaijan, and this policy remains unchanged.
Having agreed with opinion that inter-parliamentary connections are not at a desirable level, the diplomat has told: “Chairman of National Assembly of Pakistan Choudri Emir Huseyn also is concerned with it and wishes realization of concrete steps. And with this purpose he invites the Azerbaijan colleague to make visit to Islamabad.
Then, the ambassador has passed to Murtuz Alaskarov the letter of the Chairman of parliament of the country with the official invitation.
