Speaker Asadov reminded on the old history of friendly relations between two countries, and noted the quickly developing bilateral ties.
After Azerbaijan regained state independence, the Speaker said, the relations between two countries became larger. Special role in this played the heads of state. The documents signed during the official visit of the President of Azerbaijan to China in 2005, have created large opportunities and legal base for all-round cooperation in the field of political, economic, trade and cultural fields. Also are developing the inter-parliamentary links. Parliamentary friendship group has been set up in the Milli Majlis. Mutual visits of parliamentarians strengthen much more the cooperation.
Giving detailed information on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Asadov said the position of China in this question, is highly assessed in the country. ’We express gratitude for support rendered during acceptance of the UN Resolutions connected to the conflict. And the statement the Foreign Minister of China has made in connection with the elections in the so-called “Nagorno Karabakh Republic”, confirm that Nagorno Karabakh is the territory of Azerbaijan and China doesn’t recognize these elections. Azerbaijani, too, holds up the position of China in the question of Taiwan.
Deputy chairman of Standing Committee of the All-China Assembly of People Representatives Syu Stzialu expressed gratitude for hospitality and warm words, noting that he shares views of Azerbaijani Speaker.
At meeting, attended also by first deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Ziyafet Askerov, vice-speaker Bahar Muradova, Valeh Alaskarov and other officials, the sides had comprehensive exchange of views on numerous questions of mutual interest.
