Participants of meeting of News Agencies World Council (NACO) visit Icherisheher
Baku, June 2 (AZERTAC). Participants of a meeting of the News Agencies World Council (NACO) have today visited Icherisheher (the Inner City), one of the world`s cultural heritage sites.
The delegation was informed about Karvansaray. They were told that Karvansaray was built in the 15th century.
The participants familiarized themselves with the Maiden Tower built in 7th-6th centuries BC and restored in the 12th century. The Tower, 28m in height and 16-16,5m in diameter, comprises of a cylinder-like real tower and a huge supporting construction.
The delegation was informed on the very ancient history of Icherisheher, the valuable cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani nation, which has been classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
They also visited the Palace of Shirvanshahs built in early 15th century and considered one of the landmark architectural monuments of Azerbaijan.
