PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV MEETS WITH CISCO’S CEO IN DAVOS
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met Thursday with Chairman and CEO of the Cisco Systems John Chambers at the Turmhotel Victoria in Davos, Switzerland.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the government of Azerbaijan pays a special attention to the IT sector in the country.
Chambers hailed President Ilham Aliyev’s policy aimed at developing diversified economy and non-energy sector in Azerbaijan, adding information technologies play a major role in this process.
President Aliyev touched on the IT`s impact on other fields, saying the preference is given to application of high technologies in the education in Azerbaijan. Signing of the contract between Cisco and the government of Azerbaijan was discussed at the meeting. The Azerbaijani leader considered Cisco’s proposals concerning application of some new technologies in Azerbaijan and modernization of the telecommunication network in the country.
President Ilham Aliyev praised Cisco’s activity in Azerbaijan.
The Head of State highlighted the role of information technologies in building the sustainable economy in Azerbaijan. According to the President, information technologies are the priority of the country’s economic policy.
