PRESIDENT ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES PRESIDENT OF INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE JACQUES ROGGE
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received President of International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday.
The Azerbaijani President expressed satisfaction with his previous meetings with Jacques Rogge who is for the first time in Baku as President of International Olympic Committee.
President Ilham Aliyev said a large number of high-level international competitions, including Athens Olympics qualifying boxing, volleyball and taekwondo tournaments were held in Azerbaijan.
He also touched upon the government’s efforts towards creating wide sports infrastructure, and said 13 regional sport complexes meeting world standards were built and 23 are under construction in the country.
President Ilham Aliyev said great attention is also paid to improving social conditions of sportsmen.
“Sport is not only success and achievements, it is also the nation`s future”, he added.
The President of International Olympic Committee stressed Azerbaijan is developing in all fields.
Jacques Rogge said International Olympic Committee welcomes President Ilham Aliyev`s paying attention to developing sports and improving Olympic movement in the country.
