President Ilham Aliyev visits Flag Square and Flag Museum in Shamkir District
Baku, September 10 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today visited the Flag Square and Flag Museum in the country’s Shamkir District.
The Head of State was informed that the flag flies on a 98 meter high pole, and measures 40 meters in length and 20 meters in width. The square occupies a total area of 4.5 hectares.
President Ilham Aliyev also viewed the Flag Museum in Shamkir.
The flags of the ancient states which existed in Azerbaijan throughout history, as well as flags of the country’s khanates, and samples of ancient arms are demonstrated at the Flag Museum.
The Museum demonstrates photos and documents highlighting the history of establishment of independent Azerbaijan under national leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as, its development under President Ilham Aliyev. It also exhibits the flag of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, flags of the different types of the troops of Armed Forces, ceremonial costumes, orders and medals.
The Museum also showcases a duplicate of the Guinness World Records certificate for the tallest flagpole at the National Flag Square in Baku, books and photographs.
