PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES CSI EXECUTIVE SECRETARY VLADIMIR RUSHAYLO
Greeting the guest, the Head of State congratulated him on the new appointment and wished every success in the important office. He noted it was Mr. Rushaylo’s rich experience of state and socio-political activities that resulted in unanimous support of his candidature by the heads of state. The President also mentioned the Secretary’s valuable contribution to development of Azerbaijan -Russia relationship.
Speaking of the intra-CIS cooperation - one of the most important aspects of the Azerbaijan’s foreign policy - President Ilham Aliyev stressed the great role of nationwide leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in the process of establishment and development of these relations. Noting the importance of the high-level meetings, he emphasized as well that the recent informal one in Moscow had contributed much to strengthening links within the CIS framework.
SCI Executive Secretary Vladimir Rushaylo expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani leader for the support of his candidacy, and assured he would take every effort to further improve the activity of the CIS Executive Committee and the Commonwealth on the whole.
Touching on his current visit, Mr. Rushaylo informed the President on the meeting he had held here at the Cabinet to discuss prospects of Azerbaijan’s further cooperation in the framework of CIS. He noted that economic integration remains very important factor of the cooperation naming among its main aspects the humanitarian sphere, fight against international terrorism, illegal drug trafficking and organized crime.
