PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN ILHAM ALIYEV RECEIVES RUSSIAN PREMIER
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said he is glad that Russian Prime Minister is in Baku for a visit to “close” the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan.
The Head of State pointed out that this year allowed evaluating better the opportunities for cooperation.
“Staying recently in Russia, during the meeting with President of Russia I noted that while the Year of Russia formally comes to an end, I am sure, it will be continued in the other format in the years to come. Your visit to our country is also an evidence of the enormous potential of bilateral cooperation,” said the President.
According to Azerbaijani Leader, trade turnover between the two countries has doubled over two years. He expressed hope that positive trends will grow, and it will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.
Russian Premier thanked for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
He expressed satisfaction with the fact that trade and economic relations between the two countries are rapidly developing.
“Today, we are holding the ceremony of closing the Year of Russia in Azerbaijan together with the colleague, but we do not close it actually, on the contrary, we give an extra impetus to the development of the humanitarian cooperation,” added Russian PM.
For his part, President Ilham Aliyev asked Russian PM to give his regards and best wishes to Vladimir Putin. He said, “Our meeting in Moscow, as always, was held in a very constructive, friendly and sincere atmosphere. We discussed very many important issues of bilateral cooperation. We see positive development in all the directions”.
