The actions taken by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev over the passed six months show a notable progress in the development of democracy, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Reno Harnish told AzerTAj correspondent. He described the presidential decrees on pardon as the fact of intention of the Azerbaijani leadership to continue democratic reforms. American diplomat regarded presidential veto imposed on the bill on public TV as a progressive step towards political reforms.

Reno Harnish also noted that both the US Administration and he as the US ambassador express satisfaction with the completion of trials over those detained during October 15-16 events within a very short time and their releasing by getting a suspended sentence.
