PRESIDENTS OF AZERBAIJAN AND MOLDOVA MAKE JOINT PRESS STATEMENTS
After the meeting in the presence of the two countries` delegations, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Vladimir Voronin of Moldova made their statements for media outlets.
“The dialogue between our nations continues very successfully and covers more new spheres. Our countries are friendly countries, partner countries. We actively interact on a wide range of issues. Political dialogue is being actively carried out. Today, we have discussed bilateral relations and regional issues. We put a particular emphasis on the need to intensify economic ties. There is a huge potential in this area. We have discussed energy cooperation and opportunities for implementing investment projects”
“Great attention is paid to humanitarian cooperation. Today, Moldova Culture Days have opened in Azerbaijan. I am sure that, during these days, citizens of Azerbaijan will be able to learn more about the unique culture and art of Moldova.
As a whole, our relations can be described as friendly, close and we are ready for this. Moldovan President`s visit will give a new impetus to development of our ties. We have a very strong contractual-legal base, desire to step up economic interaction, increase trade turnover and consider in details the concrete projects that we could implement together.
We have discussed issues concerning resolution of the conflicts in our countries, and of course, we share the same opinion that settlement of these conflicts must be based on territorial integrity of our countries. We are very glad that the world community supports our positions. Settlement of conflicts will give a fillip to regional cooperation, allow eliminate potential threat of separatism and establish wider interaction in the region.
We share the same stance on many issues. I expressed my gratitude to Vladimir Nikolayevich for Moldova`s supporting Azerbaijani position on the issue on situation in the occupied territories at the UN General Assembly. As you know, the General Assembly supported Azerbaijan and adopted the resolution that we put forward. Friendly Moldova was one of the countries that actively supported us. We highly appreciate it and consider it as the manifestation of principled position, principled foreign policy and friendly ties,” President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his statement.
“Given the rapid pace of development of Azerbaijan for the past few years, approach to problems, the objectives that President Ilham Aliyev set to improve the living of people, I think you will reach a level of development similar to that of the most developed countries,” said Vladimir Voronin in his statement.
“I think it would be right if we open air flights between Kishinev and Baku. We have discussed many other issues as well including agreements, which will be signed by members of our delegations, our ministers,” said Voronin.
“We were impressed by what we heard about the social programs, development of schools - not only their development but integration into the up-to-date teaching processes - with the help of Internet and other state-of-the-art technologies. We were impressed by how you solve the problems with infrastructure. The country has been fully supplied with gas. The water supply problems are also being seriously solved,” said Voronin.
