Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, Artur Rasizade, met yesterday with his Ukrainian counterpart, Viktor Yanukovich, and his accompanying delegation.

Artur Rasizade said the Ukrainian delegation’s current visit will give the impetus to the enhancement of bilateral Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations, which he said already reached the level of strategic partnership.

Azerbaijan’s Premier informed his Ukrainian counterpart about his country’s economic development.

On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Mr. Rasizade said the fact the dispute is not yet resolved still remains Azerbaijan’s major problem.

Artur Rasizade welcomed the fact that trade between Azerbaijan and Ukraine grew 22 percent last year, saying there is a potential to increase this figure.

Following the meeting, Mr. Yanukovish said in an interview with reporters that he discussed with Mr. Rasizade the issues of transportation and joint production of Caspian oil as well as prospects of boosting the bilateral trade, economic and military ties.
