Quote by Nizami Ganjavi becomes epigraph of American thriller

The American thriller Not Without Hope, released in theaters in December 2025, opens with a quote by Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi.
The quote reads: “In our hour of adversity, be not without hope, for crystal rain falls from the black clouds.” By doing so, the filmmakers immediately set out the film’s main theme – survival in the face of mortal danger and hope.
Directed by Joe Carnahan, the film is based on the book Not Without Hope (2010) by Nick Schuyler and Jere Longman. At the center of the plot is the true story of four friends who find themselves in the open sea after a fishing boat capsizes during a severe storm in the Gulf of Mexico. Due to adverse weather conditions, the search-and-rescue operation yields no results, forcing the protagonists to fight for their lives on their own.
