Rehovot hosts public meeting as part of Azerbaijani Culture Days
Baku, November 22 (AZERTAC). A public meeting with members of the Israel Azerbaijan International Association (AZIZ) has been held in Rehovot as part of the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Israel.
Among those in attendance at the he meeting were Kiryat Ekron Mayor Hovav Zabari, member of Rehovot City Council Yefim Zaika, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Absorption Oded Forer, and Director of the Israeli Culture Centre at the Azerbaijan University of Languages Emilia Rzayeva.
AZIZ is dedicated to increasing awareness of the Israeli society of the bloody massacre committed by Armenians in the Azerbaijani town of Khojaly. The organization launched a photo exhibition titled “Justice for Khojaly”.
Expert on international relations, AZIZ member of Board of Directors Arye Gut made a report at the event highlighting the Khojaly massacre. He said the Khojaly massacre was one of the most terrible tragedies of the 20th century.
Gut said: “The cruel and horrifying scenes from the tragedy we are demonstrating today are an incurable wound in the heart of Azerbaijan. The Khojaly massacre is a crime committed against the humanity. Armenian vandals massacred 613 people on a cold winter night, including the elderly, babies and women. Many of them were also the victims of numerous tortures, abuses, and humiliation.”
Gut noted Khojaly’s peaceful residents were murdered just because they were Azerbaijanis. He said: “The Khojaly massacre was part of Armenians’ ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijanis in the occupied territories. There can’t be any tolerance against the special cruelty committed against sinless children, women and the elderly.”
The event continued with a concert of Azerbaijani classical music.
The Culture Days of Azerbaijan in Israel are co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and AZIZ.
