‘RELATIONS BETWEEN AZERBAIJAN AND PALESTINE WILL RAPIDLY DEVELOP IN VARIOUS SPHERES’
Baku, 30 October (AZERTAC). “My meetings in Baku, particularly one held with President Ilham Aliyev encourage me to say that relationship between Azerbaijan and Palestine will rapidly develop in various spheres”, Palestinian foreign minister Riad al-Malki told AZERTAC.
The Minister said as part of the trip he had “fruitful meetings”, and several agreements on bilateral cooperation were obtained. They include, he added, signing a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Palestine, organizing reciprocal visits, strengthening cooperation within international organizations, improvement of Palestinian diplomats` education in the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and other issues.
According to the minister, Palestine attaches special importance to establishing trade and economic relations with Azerbaijan which is planned to carry out some relevant projects in his country in the future. He pointed out they exchanged views on expanding bilateral humanitarian cooperation, as well.
Riad al-Malki stressed that the above-mentioned issues will successfully be realized after Palestine`s embassy is opened in Baku in the coming months.
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Minister noted both Azerbaijan and Palestine has been faced the military occupation for years, adding relevant resolutions and decisions adopted by international organizations are not honored.
He underscored Azerbaijan and Palestine try to restore their territorial integrity, so they must cooperate closely within international organizations.
Riad al-Malki also called on the international community to take vigorous efforts to settle conflicts.
Sharing his impressions on the visit to Baku, the Minister said he witnessed “sincere hospitality” here, and particularly felt this during his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.
He added his impressions on Azerbaijan will contribute to increasing the interest in his country towards Azerbaijan.
