RELIGION AND HUMAN RIGHTS” ROUND-TABLE HELD
Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan in associate with the State Committee on Religious Structures has held a round-table on the topic “Religion and the Human Rights”.
In her opening remarks, Ombudswoman of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova emphasized that the processes of reform are going in all fields. As noted, it also has touched the human rights sphere, as a result, was ensured the country’s stability, which is the major factor for development of state. She said the important role in achieving stability belongs to religious tolerance, which is stipulated in the Constitution. Ms. Suleymanova called the experience of Republic in providing religious stability, tolerance and establishment of mutually respectful relations among different confessions as “national value”. Adjustment of relations between the state and religion, religious tolerance, peaceful co-existence of different faiths is connected with the name of Heydar Aliyev, she stressed. Worthy successor of the nationwide leader President Ilham Aliyev also constantly renders care and due attention to this question.
At the action, also present were the head of the State Committee on Work with Religious Structures Hidayat Orujov, chairman of the Azerbaijan Press Council Aflatun Amashov, who focused the topic from different aspects of religious tolerance, values of Islam, the role of media in development of interconfessional dialogue.
