Resolution of OIC FMs Council urges international recognition of Khojaly genocide
Baku, June 20 (AZERTAC). The 41st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has adopted a resolution urging an international recognition of the Khojaly genocide.
Entitled “Exploring Areas of Islamic Cooperation”, the session took place in Jeddah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The resolution supports the activities of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYFDC).
The OIC Ministries of Foreign Affairs particularly voice their backing for the ICYFDC’s efforts to promote the Khojaly genocide in OIC member states and for work carried out as part of the “Justice for Khojaly” campaign.
The resolution calls on the OIC member states to take necessary steps at international and national levels for promoting the genocide committed by Armenians against Azerbaijanis in 1992 as a crime against humanity.
The international “Justice for Khojaly” awareness campaign was declared by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva in 2008.
