Sahiba Gafarova: Ensuring women’s rights in Azerbaijan remains one of the priorities of state policy

“Azerbaijan strongly supports international cooperation aimed at enhancing the role of women across all areas of public life,” said Speaker Sahiba Gafarova in her remarks at the Second Asian Women’s Forum held in Bukhara, Uzbekistan.
She emphasized that women’s rights and gender equality remain priorities of state policy in Azerbaijan, where women are active across political, economic, scientific, and cultural fields and hold senior positions in public institutions. She also highlighted First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva’s public and political role as reflecting the important contribution and growing leadership of Azerbaijani women in society.
Sahiba Gafarova also emphasized the important role of women in post-conflict recovery in the liberated territories, where they actively contribute to reconstruction, reintegration, and the implementation of the “Great Return” program, including infrastructure restoration and support for the safe return of former internally displaced persons.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova noted that women’s contributions in education, healthcare, public administration, and local economic development enhance long-term recovery and social cohesion, reflecting Azerbaijan’s approach to post-conflict development.
