SAUDI ARABIAN DELEGATION VISITS AZERTAC
AZERTAC’s Director General, Aslan Aslanov, spoke of the history of Azerbaijan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Aslanov said both countries have similar religion, culture and traditions.
He stressed the key role late Azerbaijan President, Heydar Aliyev, and Saudi Arabian King, Fahd bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud, played in establishing fraternal relations between the two countries.
Aslan Aslanov said Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev’s 2005 visit to Saudi Arabia marked a new phase in the development of bilateral Azerbaijan-Saudi Arabia ties.
“Our countries are closely cooperating within the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Saudi Arabia has always been supporting Azerbaijan’s equitable stance on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, and our people are thankful to the friendly and fraternal country for this”, Mr. Aslanov noted.
AZERTAC’s Director General informed the Saudi guests about the activity of his Agency.
Aslan Aslanov said AZERTAC attaches great importance to cooperation with Arabian news agencies.
He pointed to cooperation agreement due to be signed between AZERTAC and Saudi press agency (SPA).
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Culture and Information, Iyad ibn Ameen Madani, expressed his gratitude to AZERTAC’s management for warm welcome and extended hospitality.
The Saudi Minister said he and his delegation were already received by President Ilham Aliyev, whom he described as very energetic, young and hopeful for the future.
Iyad ibn Ameen Madani said his country attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan, adding the fact that Saudi Arabia does not have any relations with Armenia demonstrates this.
Mr. Madani said he will try his best to help establish close bilateral relations between AZERTAC and SPA.
The Saudi Arabian Minister invited AZERTAC’s Director General to visit his country.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Tofiq Abdullayev, was also present at the meeting.
