Upon completion of his official visit to Azerbaijan, chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Sergey Mironov gave an interview to AzTV-1 TV channel.

S. Mironov said he is satisfied with the results of his visit, and highlighted the importance of the signed document on establishing the Baku Branch of the International Institute of Monitoring of Development of Democracy, Parlimentarism, and observation of the suffrage of citizens in the member states of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

He told of his meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The meeting focused on a number of issues concerning bilateral relations.

He stressed that Azerbaijan is Russia’s strategic partner, one of the biggest nations in the Caucasus.

S. Mironov described President Ilham Aliyev as a strong politician, genuine patriot of his country. According to the Speaker, Ilham Aliyev’s studying in the Moscow state Institute of International Relations, his knowledge of the people of Russia, helps to maintain closer ties between the two countries.
