SOCAR HAS MUCH WORK TO DO IN 2008
Head of the Capital Investment Department, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), Mr. Aghasaf Aliyev told AZERTAC, the company has a lot of building and assembly jobs to do in 2008. “The jobs aim to build and put into operation all the planned facilities of the “Neftgastikinti” Company and the Caspian Oil Fleet,” he said.
Aliyev noted that SOCAR was to produce 7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2008 thus achieving a year-on-year increase of 1.8 billion cubic meters. “To this end, big money is being invested in the Guneshli field,” he said. “In the first half of the year, we are planning to commission a compressor station at the platform No 4, with a daily capacity of 4 million cubic meters,” Aliyev added.
He also said that a 20-inch Bahar-Hovsan-Surakhany gas main will deliver the “blue fuel” under high pressure to “Shimal” power station and other consumers.
“Besides, SOCAR is planning to build five compressor stations, gas separation and distribution units, and repair sixteen wells at Garadag Gas Storage to bring its capacity to 3 billion cubic meters,” Aliyev said.
Accordign to him, the company is also expected to build new oil and gas platforms. “One of them, a 60 meter deep 2-block platform “Umid-1” now being assembled at the Heydar Aliyev Deep Water Jacket Plant, will be installed offshore at the Umid gas condensate field in the second half of 2008, to drill six up to 6,500 meter-deep gas wells,” Aliyev said.
He added that two new platforms to drill 24 wells will be constructed this year for the oil-and-gas production company “Oil Rocks”.
