SOCAR PRESIDENT MEETS WITH EBRD FIRST VICE-PRESIDENT
President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has today met with first vice-president of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Varel Freeman.
V. Freeman said he is satisfied with socio-economic reforms in Azerbaijan and accomplishments achieved in the energy sector.
On the success our country achieved in implementing global energy projects, R. Abdullayev said SOCAR played an important role in those projects. He noted that Azerbaijan is one of the exporters ensuring Europe’s energy security and SOCAR is one of the region’s most developed companies. The company now works to bring its operations in line with international standards.
Freeman said EBRD is keen on environmental projects in Azerbaijan.
SOCAR President Abdullayev said the company has to date implemented environmental pilot projects at its own expense, adding SOCAR will consider cooperation with the EBRD in the future.
The meeting also focused on a number of other issues of mutual concern.
