SPEAKER OF RF FEDERATION COUNCIL VISITING TURKEY
The President of Turkey Ahmed Necdet Sezer today received Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Sergey Mironov, who has arrived in Ankara with an official visit on 26 March.
After the meeting, where discussed were the prospects of bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia and the situation in the Near East, the Russian guest took part at the conference in Bilkent University.
Then, Sergey Mironov met with his Turkish colleague Bulent Arinc to discuss issues of expansion of the inter-parliamentary links. Chairman of the Turkish Parliament noted that the government and legislative body of his country attach great importance to development of relations with Russia, noting that the 2007 has been announced the “Year of Russian Culture” in Turkey, and the next year will be the “Year of Turkish Culture” in Russia.
The same day, Mr. Sergey Mironov has also met with the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
