Swedish Government to have “efficient strategy” on Azerbaijan and Eastern European countries
Stockholm, March 15 (AZERTAC). The Government of Sweden has adopted a decision on a new “efficient strategy” of relations with the Eastern European countries, including Azerbaijan.
The new strategy is said to be applied to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus, as well as several countries in the Balkans - Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia, and also Turkey. The 8- billion krona (900 million euro) allocation of the assistance strategy is to be made 2014-2020.
The Swedish assistance is earmarked for long-term assistance to the development of free and democratic countries with free market and will be directed to the administrative and legal reforms, as well as human rights, development of civil society, economic integration and progress, environment, energy and other spheres. Gender equity remains, as earlier, a priority field.
The new strategy is said to keep in focus the situation in Ukraine.
