Talks to bring Thierry Henry back to Arsenal "progressing"
Baku, December 30 (AZERTAC). Arsenal`s bid to sign Thierry Henry on a two-month loan deal is "progressing".
Negotiations have now begun with Major League Soccer in the US over the player`s release.
Talks with Henry`s club, the New York Red Bulls, are set to begin shortly.
The 34-year-old striker has been training with the north London club and is understood to be keen to take up the offer.
Earlier in the week, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger refused to comment on the speculation.
He said: "There is no story and if we sign anybody we will inform you.
"I am 15 years in England. I have never told before I sign somebody the name of who I will sign."
Now, though, it seems a return for the former Arsenal captain could be on the cards.
With Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, Wenger may feel that Robin van Persie needs some support.
Henry, the Gunners` all-time leading goalscorer, who recently had a statue built outside the Emirates Stadium in his honour, does not have to return to the New York Red Bulls until March.
He scored 226 times in 370 appearances for the club before moving to Barcelona in June 2007.
