TURKISH MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES VISIT AZERTAC NEWS AGENCY IN BAKU
Director General of the Turkish Press and Information Department Salih Melek and his accompanying delegation met Monday with Director General of the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency (AZERTAC) Aslan Aslanov.
The role of press in boosting bilateral relations was stressed at the meeting. The sides also highlighted the contribution of the two countries` presidents to strengthening bilateral relationships.
Mr. Aslanov spoke of the history of Agency, and its international relations, saying the Agency is a member of several influential regional organizations, including the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), the Black Sea Association of National News Agencies (BSANNA), Alliance of News Agencies of Turkic countries (TKA). He said AZERTAC has recently become a member of one more respected organization - the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA).
The Director General stated that its membership was backed by an overwhelming majority of votes at the EANA’s Extra General Assembly on April 18, in Tallinn, Estonia.
Mr. Aslanov noted AZERTAC plays essential role in dissemination of the truth about Azerbaijan around the globe.
As stated, the AZERTAC agency will host 7th TKA General Assembly on 30 April-2 May, and next session of OANA Executive Committee in the beginning of September in Baku.
The Turkish delegation included Chairman of Union of the Turkish Journalists Orkhan Erinch, section director of “Turkiye” newspaper Behcet Fakihoglu, lecturers of Ankara and Kocaeli Universities for journalism Abdulrazzak Altun and Vedat Damir.
